First Flight

I decided to purchase a DJI Mavic Pro drone last year as I got a pretty good deal and have wanted a drone since they started coming down in price. The picture in this article was shot on a beautiful sunny day and is my first panoramic shot of the city I live in.

I love the view from so high up in the sky and think that is what draws me in. If you look closely at this picture, you can see places that you wouldn’t usually see. There are places on this picture that you wouldn’t even be able to get to with a car. But from high above the ground, I have a different perspective than when driving or walking around town.

Viewing the world from a different perspective can definitely have a positive impact on our outlook. So often, we look at others or a situation from the same lens, the same filter, at the same altitude and can get stuck in those thoughts and feelings. Sometimes you just need to take a moment and reflect on that situation or that person or even your attitude “from a different perspective.”

Consider watching a football game. Today we have the power of a replay. Replays give you as the viewer and the referee a different perspective on that last play. The different perspective that the referee gets through this replay has the power to change the outcome of the game! This is why, as leaders, it is important to sometimes take a step back and view that employee, co-worker, wife, child, or situation from a different perspective. When you do so, you have an opportunity to change the outcome of your game!
